Getting started. Your driving instructor can start driving lesson as soon as your provisional driving licence becomes valid.  

Applying for your provision driving license. You can apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday. The earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday.

You can take your theory test once your provisional licence becomes valid. The theory test is made up of a multiple choice part and a hazard perception part. You need to pass both parts to pass it. Once you have passed the theory test you can then apply to take your practical driving test.

Your driving instructor will  help prepare you for your theory and hazard perception test if required.

 

Practical Driving Test. Your driving instructor will advise you when you are ready to take your Driving Test.  Book on-line or contact Driving Standards Agency on: 0870 01 01 372.  When booking your driving test, it is advisable to have your instructors Approved Driving Instructors number.

 

 Test fees effective from 5 October 2009

 ♦ Dundee Theory Test Centre Costs:  Theory test:       £31.00  

 ♦ Dundee Driving Test Centre Costs: Monday - Friday: £62.00 -Saturday: £75.00

Driving Test offices Theory & Practical are situated in Dundee, the Dundee offices are also availaible for the three parts of your Driving Instructor Tests .

Dundee Driving Test Dates: Your driving instructor will be familiar with the Dundee Driving Test Routes and the Driving Test Centre in Dundee.  Please discuss with your instructor suitable driving test dates that are available before booking your driving test.
