im_a_learner_01Getting started. Your driving instructor can start driving lesson as soon as your provisional driving licence becomes valid.   

Applying for your provision driving license. You can apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday. The earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday.

You can take your theory test once your provisional licence becomes valid. The driving theory test is set in two parts; multiple choice and hazard perception.  You need to pass both parts to pass the driving theory test. Once you have passed the driving theory test you can then apply to take your practical driving test. Your driving instructor will  help prepare you for your theory and hazard perception test if required.

Driving Test: Your driving instructor will advise you when you are ready to take your Driving Test. Listen to  your driving instructors advice, this avoids disappointment if the instructor is not available  on the day or  does not think you are ready to pass your driving test.

 ♦ Dundee Theory Test Centre Costs:  Theory test:       £31.00  

 ♦ Dundee Driving Test Centre Costs: Monday - Friday: £62.00 -Saturday: £75.00

Driving Test:  Book on-line or contact Driving Standards Agency on: 0870 01 01 372.  When booking your driving test, it is advisable to have your instructors Approved Driving Instructors number.

Change of Name or Address

You must tell the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) immediately of any changes to your name, address or both. You can update your driving licence online or send it to DVLA for amendment. A new licence will be issued free of charge unless your photograph’s due for renewal.  Make sure you do this before sitting your driving test.
